ABB to showcase latest robotic innovations at MACH 2016

Milton Keynes, March 4th, 2016: Advance technologies to feature from ABB include robotic welding solutions and collaborative robot YuMi

ABB to showcase latest robotic innovations at MACH 2016ABB will be showcasing its latest technologies at this year's MACH 2016 at the Birmingham NEC from the 11th to the 15th of April. Stand 5771 in Hall 5 will showcase ABB's latest developments in robotic automation, with its new generation of cost-effective, state-of-the-art standardized arc welding cells.

Demonstrations will also include ABB's laser welding technology combined with ABB's innovative FlexInspect, the ultimate solution for automated in-line inspection and YuMi the new dual-armed robot will make its debut.

ABB's FlexArc is a new generation of standardized welding cells which deliver maximum performance whilst making optimum use of available space. The basic options feature either a single robot or two robots with MultiMove, together with a choice of ABB positioners from an extensive range and a selection of welding equipment options to suit the customers' needs.

Jointly developed by ABB and 3D imaging specialist nub3d, the FlexInspect is a new robotic automated inspection system capable of measuring a wide variety of components and finished products in 3D. This can be achieved without any contact whilst the robot handles them. FlexInspect includes its own built-in adjustable lighting technology, providing optimum digitizing results regardless of production floor light conditions or vibrations.

Also featured on the stand will be ABB's new YuMi dual-armed robot, the first truly collaborative dual armed robot designed for a world in which humans and robots work together. With its extensive safety features allowing it to work alongside manual workers with no need for barriers, cages or zones, YuMi offers manufacturers a raft of benefits including increased productivity, flexibility and product quality.

Another key feature of YuMi is its use of Lead Through Programming for simple tasks, enabling manufacturers to quickly and easily respond to changes in consumer demand. Rather than having to program YuMi through traditional methods such as RAPID programming language, Lead Through Programming enables operators to teach the robot simply by placing its arms in the required positions and recording each movement.

ABB will also be using the show to highlight its overall capabilities in the supply and support of robotic automation solutions for manufacturing applications.

"It's always been important for ABB's robotics business to have a presence at large scale manufacturing events such as MACH," explains Mike Wilson, Sales and Marketing Manager. "Through exhibiting the latest advances in robot technology, we hope to also demonstrate our ongoing support for the development of the UK manufacturing sector."
