ABB to present water and wastewater expertise at IWEX 2011

ABB engineers are offering expert advice on the latest legislation and issues affecting the water industry

ABB Limited (stand H20) will be showcasing a full range of products for water and wastewater treatment applications at the IWEX exhibition, NEC Birmingham, 24th-26th May.

Visitors to the stand will be able to see a fully automated interactive display demonstrating how ABB's technologies can be integrated to help monitor and control water supplies. It features various examples from ABB's Measurement Products division controlled by ABB's latest PLC technology with

Profibus and Ethernet communications technology. ABB engineers will be manning the stand, offering expert advice on the latest legislation and issues affecting the water industry, including MCERTS, the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme and Leakage Management.

Among the products on display will be ABB's MCERTified WaterMaster flowmeter. Designed specifically for the water and wastewater market, it features a revolutionary octagonal flow sensor and ABB's innovative VeriMaster verification system. Accompanying it will be the new AquaMaster3 GSM-SMS/GPRS electromagnetic flowmeter. Based on the same technology as a mobile phone, the AquaMaster3 can be contacted using a PC, or through a mobile phone via SMS messaging, providing operators with instant remote access to accurate flow and pressure data. AquaMaster3 also utilises the latest power technology enabling wind, solar and battery supplies helping users towards renewable energy sources.

ABB will also be using the exhibition to launch its new Aztec 600 Ion Selective Electrode (ISE) analysers. The new Aztec 600 ISE extends the existing Aztec range of colorimetric analysers launched last year to offer measurement of ammonia and fluoride in potable water quality applications.

"IWEX gives us a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate to our customers the full range of products, systems, services and expertise, to optimise their water management," says James Chalmers, ABB's UK water industry manager. "Our aim is to emphasise ABB's ability to provide complete integrated solutions for water and waste water treatment applications."

ABB experts are giving two free seminars on issues pertinent to the water industry.
The first seminar will be hosted by Tony Hoyle, ABB General Sales Manager UK & Ireland, in the IWEX Water Theatre, on Wednesday 25th March at 14.15. The talk will discuss how modern flowmetering technology presents a highly accurate and cost effective way of helping water companies to tackle leakage. It will include real examples such as the C2C project, where flowmeters have already played a key role in cutting the MOD's water leaks by over 35% and Project Neptune, an innovative leakage detection project involving a partnership between ABB, Yorkshire Water and United Utilities and leading UK universities.

The second seminar, on Thursday 26th March, also in the IWEX Water Theatre, will take place at 13.45. In light of the changing nature of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme, Nick Brown, ABB Energy Appraisal Manager will use real life case studies to highlight some innovative ways in which variable speed drives can be used to significantly reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions and ways to improve the productivity of the water process while substantially reducing maintenance costs.
